| Carnot W Ward Carnot Ward, 94, took his last breath on December 4, 2009 while sleeping peacefully at home. A celebration of his life will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at the Coughlin Funeral Home, Califon, NJ. Visitation will also be held there Friday, December 11, from 7-9 pm. Carnot was born in 1915 and raised in Morris County. He attended The Peck School, and later the Morristown School where, in 1933, he was chosen as a member of the ice-hockey team to sail abroad for a series of games with picked French and Swiss teams. He later worked for Naval Research Laboratories in Washington, D.C. before returning to Morris County in the earlyl950's to work at Thiokol Research. He joined the Fairmount Volunteer Fire Company in 1958, where he served as Chief for a time and remained a dedicated member all his life. He was also a member of the Washington Association; and was a founding member of the Lackawanna division of the United States Power Squadron. He was an avid golfer well into his 80's. In his spare time, he loved working outside around his home where he lived for over 50 years with his loving wife, Jane, who took her last breath in 2005. He is survived by two daughters: Susan, of Long Valley, and her husband, David Jones, Sally Ward of High Bridge, his grandchildren David and Michael Jones, and his great-grand-daughter Reese Morgan Jones. He is also survived by his beloved sister Edith and her husband Norman Delker of Massachusetts, his cousins Mary Delmonico McDermott of Mendham, and Diane Delmonico rvans, of Buffalo, NY as well as his loving nieces Cristin, Loren, Carolyn, and Leslie and nephew Peter.
